How the BirdSpy™ Bird Detection System works
The system alerts whenever a detection event has occurred while the tractor or other machinery has not been in use. Birds, and in particular Starlings, like nesting in tractor engine bays... especially around places with residual heat like the exhaust manifold and turbocharger. Their nesting material introduces a fire risk, and fires result when the operator fails to check for and remove nesting material before starting and operating the machine. The BirdSpy™ Bird Detection System prevents engine starting until a potential intrusion has been investigated and cleared.
One or more sensors are mounted in the engine bay at or near high temperature locations which are critical fire risk areas.
If no sensor has been triggered the engine may be started and operated normally. If however a sensor has been triggered the system disables starting of the engine, therefore the engine can not heat up and can not set alight any bird nesting material that may be present. A warning lamp and audible alarm alert the operator. The operator is required to remove the key, access the engine bayr, check and clear away any bird nesting material, then use the key to activate the reset sensor (also located in the engine bay).

...and an audible alarm operate at key-on to indicate bird activity has been detected and there is a high risk of nesting material being present. Engine starting is inhibited to prevent a potential fire.
Check & Reset...
...the system by removing the key, accessing the engine bay, checking for and clearing out any bird nesting material, and touching the key against the reset sensor. The engine covers may then be closed and the engine started and operated safely.
Problem solved!
